I had issues with the ignition switch, steering wheel buttons, and door lock after recovering my car from theft. I called Automotive Specialist on a Friday to ask when they could check the problem. They asked me to come in right away so the car would be ready by Monday. However, when I arrived, the person I had spoken with earlier completely forgot our conversation and had not taken any notes, so I had to explain everything again. On Monday, when the car was supposed to be ready, I received a call asking what exactly they were supposed to check—meaning I had to explain the issues for the third time. Later, they sent me an estimate for over $2,000, claiming they needed to replace the ignition switch, ignition body, headlight switch, and wiper switch—for a car that isn’t worth much more than that. They insisted that only original parts could be used, and there was no other solution. I refused the repairs and paid around $130 for the diagnosis, which is fine, they had to take apart steering wheel area. I later found a brand-new ignition switch and lock for $50 and replaced them myself without any additional issues. Interestingly, some parts they listed were completely undamaged, leaving me wondering why they wanted to replace it in the first place. The only positive aspect was that they cleared the dashboard error codes and reassembled the steering wheel. I also requested a detailed email estimate for the parts and labor, but months later, I still haven’t received a breakdown of the parts cost. While this could have been a series of unfortunate mistakes, my experience left me feeling distrustful of their service.
