I don't understand why this place has such good reviews. I went here specifically because people were touting how great it was. My experience was less then steller. I dropped my car off overnight on the key drop place since I got of work late. They told be before that they have it done the next day. next day came and no one called me to confirm they have my car or they were working on it. NOTHIGN. I called at noon to make sure they did in fact have my car, and that my car wasn't jacked or anything since I left it outside on their lot. They guy (Ray) said they will look at it and get back to me soon. I called at 3pm and Ray said they were typing up the report. I called at 5pm and Ray said they were typing up the report. This was a bunch of BS. they haven't even looked at my car yet. I told them I was coming to pick up my car since I had to have it next day, I suspect they started looking at my car then. They got one star because they did fix the oil leak. However, I tried to use a $15 coupon on their website. Ray said, "I gave you a discount on your price already, use it next time". I was thinking, why they heck would I give you the coupon beforehand so you can just jack up the price and take a discount???? I also heard another rep told his customer that he gave them a HUGE discount on his price. If you were stupid enough, then you'll believe them. They just say that to make you believe you got a great deal. I also got a compressive vehicle inspection ($99). They found several things wrong with the car. Ray only gave me a quote for the labor, but not the parts. He said he would give me the quote the next day. Well it's been 2 weeks and I haven't heard from them. Long story short, save yourself the trouble of going here. The reviews are overrated.

Just moved to RR and needed a new place to take my car for regular work. They took same day appointments. Apparently they have a shuttle service that takes you home if need be. They have free coffee. They have wifi. They did fair work and didnt try to upsell me on anything. Also- small discount for first time customer. Also- 15 buck off coupon for yelp check in possible. Clean, friendly and a good experience :)

I was very surprised by the poor service I received a JC Automotive given the very positive reviews on Yelp. I called and asked for an estimate to replace my clutch which was making a squealing noise when the clutch engaged that went away when the clutch peddle is depressed. They asked me to bring the vehicle in so they could inspect it and make the estimate. We agreed to have the car to them at 7:30am Thursday morning. When dropped the car off, on time, they told me it would be a couple of hours before they could look at it, so I left the car. 2:30pm that afternoon, I called back, and they said they had driven the car, but didn' t hear the noise I described, and asked me to go back to the shop to show them. I went back to the shop, pointed out the noise as described when clutch engaged vs. not, and they said it they needed to put it on the lift, but couldn't do it then. I took the car home and will find another shop that has more respect for my time.

This place is the real deal! My husband and I moved here about 3 years ago and have struggled to find our "car guy". I've encountered so many dishonest, shoddy and unprofessional repair shops since we've been here, I was beginning to lose hope! After reading the other reviews on this place, we decided to give it a go. My husband took his car in last week for some routine maintenance and from the moment we walked in they were friendly, helpful and honest. Another place had told us we needed a certain part replaced "immediately". Within 5 minutes of being here they told us that part doesn't even exist on our car! We couldn't be happier with the customer service and work done on our vehicle.

They repaired a transmission fluid leak for $49.00. Another auto repair shop in Round Rock had quoted me $425.00 to do the repair. The difference was Automotive Specialist had the knowledge, and integrity to not immediately go to (and perform) the very expensive repair procedure, but instead they investigated can the leak be repaired by cleaning up the previously leaked fluid and then tightening the low pressure hose clamp. Their repair did stop the leak, and enabled me to pass the state safety inspection. The other repair facility just automatically said we'll do the repair and quoted me the standard book cost of $425.00 to remove and replace the high pressure power steering hose. I'm glad I got a second opinion from Automotive Specialist. In addition to being glad I also saved $376.00. Also Automotive Specialists was prompt and very pleasant to deal with.

Brought my truck in because the heater was not blowing hot air. We made it through last winter without it, but didn't want to do that again this year. I figured it was just air bubbles in the cooling system that I wasn't able to remove on my own. The mechanic spent a few hours with it, trying to remove the air with their airlift system. They found a small crack at the end of my overflow hose, so they trimmed the end off and tried to remove the air from the system once again. It was later determined that the heater control valve was bad. The part had to be ordered from the dealership, so I decided to take care of it on my own. Total cost for the 2.5 hours of work: $52 with tax. They only charged me for the diagnostic fee. I couldn't believe it! They found the problem, found and fixed a small leak, and spent a lot of time on my vehicle. I was expecting to pay at least $100. I will be returning to this shop with both of my vehicles for all of my maintenance needs. Also, their diagnostic was correct! I ordered a new heater control valve and installed it myself. The heater works great now and the wife is very happy!

Wow. Just.... Wow. I am new to the area and was leery about taking my car in to a "mom and pop shop" without a recommendation. But my Mazda broke down on me... again... and I was tired of dealing with the dealership. I saw the reviews for this place here on Yelp and thought I'd check it out. When I talked to Ray about the status of my vehicle (after they had looked at it, which they did in a timely manner) he said everything pointed to the throttle body. Now this is the part of the story where I usually get screwed over by the car guy who can very obviously tell I have absolutely NO IDEA what that means. So then he said the dreaded words, "and that's a really expensive problem." Crap. The tears were welling up behind my eyes. But then he advised I just have them clean it out versus replacing the whole thing to see if that would do the trick. That made me breathe a little better and of course I agreed to it because it sounded way cheaper! When I picked the car up Ray was honest with me, said the engine light was off, it seemed to be driving fine, and that he was crossing his fingers for me, but if I had any more problems with it to bring it back. Before I go any further, let me just say that I was already impressed that... #1, They got to my vehicle in a timely manner, #2, They were very professional in their appearance and communication, and #3, They advised a cheaper solution when they easily could have charged me $1,200 to replace the thing (which is probably what the dealership would have done). But THEN... a truly magical thing happened. I got my wallet out to pay them the $65 they had previously told me they would have to charge up front for running the diagnostics on the check engine light, and the guy said, "No charge." Wait.... What? No charge? I mean, they DID WORK. They cleaned out the thing. They ran the diagnostic test. Seriously?? I'm sold. I told the guy, "I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but I hope I never see you again." I mean, no one WANTS to take their car in to the shop. But if (OK, when) I have problems with my car in the future, I will feel 100% comfortable and confident taking it to this place. I am so impressed. I really can't say enough about the experience. They have no idea how much they have done for my spirit.

I do most of my work myself but there are times when I just dont want to do it or when I need it faster than I could do it myself. For those times this is the perfect shop. I've taken 2 of my cars there and they have gone above and beyond every time.

Let me start off by saying I have know John and the service writer for many years. I have worked cars for a long time as a hobby but I can do just about anything. I had a alternator go out in a van I had and didnt have the time to do it myself. I got it up to his shop and was told yes its the alternator and it would be $850 to replace it. I really didn't have time to do it so I said just do it. The next day just for amusement I called the ford dealer and they said it would be $650 to replace it. They were charging more than the dealer. They also fixed a vacuum line for $100 ( I drove it twice before that stopped working again). I picked up the van paid the bill and then drove it to a event I was doing. On the way back from the the event it made a strange noise and then a short time later it started to overheat I pulled over let it cool and then just limped it home. I had the van towed back to Johns shop ($100). They had it a day or two and gave me a list of BS things that are "wrong" with it. One of the things wrong with it was that there is a small wiring harness broken by the fan. I then decided I didn't want them to work on it anymore I will do it my self. I then had it towed back to my house($100). I ripped into to the front end to get to this harness found it the brake in the wires. I then found a 11mm deep socket in the bottom of the fan shroud. a 11mm is used to remove the turbo hoses to get to the alternator. So the diesel mec that they have dropped his socked in the fan and didn't remove it and then the fan picked it up and ripped the harness. I repaired the wiring and put it all back together and it was driving horrible. There was another problem. I then had it towed to the ford dealer($100) They had it a few days and then told me that the PCM is bad and that if the harness that got ripped will short them out. I had them replace it for $1300. I called John and told him the story he told me that he will check into it. I called back in a few days and he said he not missing any sockets and he cant help me. My best thought for anyone needing a repair just take it to the dealer. If the dealer messes anything up they will cover it a lot better than John.

I am a woman that knows how to put gas in my car and drive it. Consequently, I get treated as such. The staff at JC Automotive showed a sincere concern for automotive problems, treated me with the utmost respect and gave me a very fair price for the repairs needed. I'm soooo happy to have them in my corner.
